INDIA (IN) CUSTOMS UPDATE
Customs in India has introduced changes on the aspect of Import clearance filing in Customs (bill of entry filing). These were notified on 31 March 2017 and became effective 1st April 2017.
a) If import clearance document submission is not done within the next working day of shipment landing, Customs will impose late presentation charges at the rate of INR 5000/- per day ( Approx. EUR 70 per day)for the initial 3 days. Thereafter the charges will be INR 10000 / per day (Approx. EUR 140 per day). This charge will be imposed on the consignee (importer in India).
b) Please ask shipper to intimate Consignee in India to provide clearance related documents prior to landing of shipment.
